Creating an NIH Data Management and Sharing Plan

The NIH has several pre-existing data sharing policies that are already in effect, and which may apply to your research in addition to the Final Policy for Data Management and Sharing. These policies, as well as a tool for finding Which Policies Apply to My Research, are available at: https://sharing.nih.gov/other-sharing-policies

• Of particular note is the Genomic Data Sharing Policy. Data Management and Sharing Plans to address this Policy's requirements are now streamlined with the NIH's Data Management and Sharing Policy's required Data Management and Sharing Plan. A single plan must address the requirements of both policies.
• The new NIH guidance Implementation Changes for Genomic Data Sharing Plans Included with Applications Due on or after January 25, 2023, outlines the details of compliance.
