Outdated: Northwestern Elements

Northwestern Elements is web-based warehouse of information about scholarly products.

Quick Tour of the Home Page

The Home page is where you land after logging into Elements. Choose Home from any other page to come back to this view.

The Menu gives you options for importing publications from an Endnote, Zotero, or RIS file; building a CV; creating links in the system between publications and grants; and managing delegates who can edit your profile for you.

The Edit your profile button will take you to your Profile, but in edit mode. In your profile you can connect an ORCID, add a photo, write an overview, edit education, link to social media, and more.

WARNING: For faculty using the Interfolio system, please note that any edits you make in your Elements profile (beyond accepting or rejecting publications) will not be carried over into Interfolio.

View the My Actions section. Every item has a link that takes you to the section in Elements where tasks can be completed, including claiming publications, adding your ORCID identifier, and setting up name based searching.

View the My Summary section. Choose the +add to search the Elements system for an existing publication, bulk import publications, or manually enter publication information. Add new scholarly products such as journal article, dataset, software or code, conferences.

Please note: Scholarly products are grouped based on publishing type. For example, "Journal Articles" includes all types of documents that are published in journals, such as articles, reviews, letters, editorials, etc.
