Using SciENcv to Create an NIH Biosketch and Other Support Documents

This guide describes how to use the NIH's SciENcv platform to create a "Common Form" biosketch and Other Support documents

The Other Support Document

  • Using SciENcv to create your Common Form Current and Pending (Other) Support document(s) (abbreviated as CPOS) will be required for proposals beginning sometime in 2026.
  • Creating the CPOS document using SciENcv is a change from how this document was created previously.
  • Only the NIH Current and Pending (Other) Support PREVIEW Common Form document is available in the SciENcv platform. The NSF Current and Pending (Other) Support document is also available in SciENcv, as is the USDA version.
    • The final version of the NIH CPOS should be available in November 2025.
    • For now, the NIH PREVIEW CPOS or the NSF Current and Pending (Other) Support document in SciENcv can be used as a template to get a head start on populating your funding -- especially if you have many grants.

Tips for the Other Support Document

  • All data must be entered into your first Other Support document manually or via XML file upload.
    • This is why we again recommend you create a Master CPOS document (just as we recommended creating a Master biosketch).
    • You can then use this master to generate each new CPOS document for each proposal. This will save you time.
  • Consider enlisting the help of your research administrator(s), program assistants or other staff to populate your Other Support documents. You must give them Delegate status (see our section on naming delegates) so they can access your SciENcv account. They can enter your funding information into the document for you.
