Strategies and tools for investigating and evaluating your options

Responding to Peer Review

It is important to respond to peer review appropriately, and there are best practices for doing so. Foremost among these is to be polite and gracious for the reviewer's expertise and the time they give to your work and so, of equal importance is acknowledging and addressing your feelings before you respond. It is natural to want to push back on criticism, but it's best to take a break to allow yourself to respond less emotionally: use peer review as an opportunity to become both a better researcher and writer, not to stroke or bruise your ego.

Address all parts of the review and ensure your responses and edits are clear and if you feel strongly, disagree on points that you stand by - just do so in a civil manner and back up your decision to do so.
